Leaders in Transition
Public service is a key component of Notre Dame’s mission. Approximately 10 percent of graduating students put this mission into action through a year or more of volunteer work. However, these same students, some of whom have served in underdeveloped countries or areas, can experience reverse culture shock when they return to the U.S. job market. The Leaders in Transition Certificate Program, now in its second year, seeks to ease their move back into the professional arena. Sponsored by the Master of Nonprofit Administration (MNA) program, in collaboration with the Center for Social Concerns, the Alumni Association, and the ND Career Center, the Leaders in Transition program will take place on campus Aug. 9-14.  [Full Story]

Attend a Weekend of Prayer
For more than 90 years, Christians have gathered at Notre Dame each summer to grow in faith together through a weekend of prayer. The annual summer retreat, which has run continuously since 1918, welcomes families and friends to campus for a three-day (Aug. 7-9) spiritual journey that promises to strengthen their bonds with God and with each other.  [Full Story]

Nominate Outstanding Alumni
Each year, the Alumni Association recognizes distinguished alumni for their service and outstanding accomplishments. Now, you can visit the Alumni Association website and submit your nominations online.
Do you know an ND alum who has performed outstanding service in the field of government, patriotism, public service, or local, state or national politics (Rev. John. J. Cavanaugh, C.S.C. Award)? Or perhaps someone who has demonstrated outstanding service to humankind (Dr. Thomas A. Dooley Award)?
You can submit nominations for these awards and more at www.alumni.nd.edu/alumniawardsnom. Nominations for these particular awards and several others are due by Aug. 1, 2009.
To view past award recipients, or to see the due dates for other alumni award nominations, visit the Alumni Association website.

Alumni Directory Needs Your Input
The Alumni Association is creating an alumni directory that will  be completed by November 2009. This directory (available in both print and CD-ROM versions) will allow you to reconnect with former classmates and network with fellow alumni! The Alumni Association has selected Harris Connect to coordinate the directory. Recently, Harris Connect began contacting alumni via e-mail asking you to complete an online questionnaire. You may also receive a postcard from Harris Connect asking you to verify your contact information. Please be sure all of your contact information is up to date.
